Scope and content
Deeds relating to a messuage used as 2 tenements on the north side of The Strand [formerly Charing Cross Street] near Charing Cross. The messuage was one of 9 messuages leased by the Abbot and Covent of the late monastery of Westminster (subsequently dissolved) to Richard Worley and his wife Isabel. The messuage came into the possession of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St Peter, Westminster, who leased it to Sarah Jevon of the parish of St Martin in the Fields, widow, for 40 years on 1 June 1671. The lease was acquired by John Brockett of The Middle Temple, gent., in 1686. From at least 1754 the two tenements were sub-leased as separate properties.
