Thomas Baskerfeild Jun. exhibited a grant of King Edgar [in 974] giving to Ælfhere his faithful minister [thane] three mansions [mansas = hides = plots of ground] in the place commonly called Nymed [near Copplestone], in Devon.

William Crowe, a literal copy of an inscription on a square stone in the ruins of a triumphal arch at Tripoly in Barbary which had escaped previous reference.

Rev. Samuel Denne, a tract relating to the burning of St. Paul’s steeple on 4 June 1561, printed in 1563 and transcribed by Rev. Denne. The fire was caused by lightning and the steeple of St. Martin’s church had also been damaged. The tract detailed progress of the fire and efforts to save the building and the adjoining Bishop’s Palace.

Part of Dr Pegge’s account of the state of Anglo-Saxon coins in the Cotton Library was read. He observed on the inscription ĐORR ON EOFERǷIC [York] on the reverse of Edward the Confessor’s coinage, noting its continuance in subsequent reigns and after the Norman Conquest. The place of coinage was never normally omitted, except on coins of Edward the Elder. Other distinguishing features and classifications were discussed, including Sir Andrew Fountaine’s Table of Coins. Ending with doubts on Mr. Thoresby’s famous Unic of St Edwin, King of Northumbria, further discussion was postponed.
