"Thus Great Cumberton transplanted into the barony of Latimer was, whilst they flou.
rished part of the jointure of Queen Katherine Par the Lord Latimers widow. & King
Henry the eights last wife – and when the Barony of Latimer perishing [ed] their
great estate was dispersed among John Lord Latimers four daughters & coheirs;
Great Cumberton becoming the lands of one of these, namely Dorothy wife of Sr. Tho:
:mas Cecil after Lord Burley & lastly Earl of Exeter.
This Lord, with his Lady, did first sell to many of the tenants here the in
heritance of their livings, & then the Lordship to Mr. John. Hanford whose heir Mr.
Francis Hanford now holdeth it.
