"After this Great Cumbreton came to Guy de Beauchamp who married [Alice]
the sole daughter & heir of the Lord Thony but I dare not say that Great Cumberton dec.
-cended to the Earls of Warwick by that match : although Hadsor, which was as this in
the time of the conqueror Gilbert Fitz Turolds Lands falling to the baron Thony pafsed so
to the Earls of Warwick; but it is certain, by an inquisition taken at Worcester 24. Sep.
-tember q. Ed. II. [1315] after the death of Guy de Beauchamp Earl of Warwick that
he was in his life seized of Great Cumberton, which manor so continued in these
Earls of Warwick till 17. Henry VI [1438-9] when Richard Beauchamp, Earl of
Warwick, having his first wife Elizabeth, daughter & heir of Thomas Lord Berkeley by
Margaret sole heir of Warin Lord Lisle, three daughters only, being Elianor married
to Edmund Earl of Dorset Margaret to John Lord Talbot & Furnivall & Elizabeth to
George Lord Latimer. he did by special conveyance make over to these & their
heirs, Great Cumberton with other manor & lands & thus Great Cumberto.n in the
portion among these sisters became the Inheritance of George Lord Latimer & his
his heirs by the Lady Elizabeth Beauchamp.
It seems first, or at least the Patronage to have been in the 2.d Daug Margaret Lady Shrews-bury"
