Inscription content

INSCRIPTIONS ON THE BANDS.
Presented to Thomas Baylis Esq. F.S.A. and W. Lechmere Whitmore Esq. F.S.A. of the Prior's Bank, Fulham by their friends Egomet, Father Thames, The Great Frost, and Old Father Christmas, in pleasant memory of their revel in St George's Gallery, on Monday, 30th Dec. 1839.
This Ancient Charter Horn, which belonged to a family named Pickard was procured from the representative of that family by John Burrow Junr., Edward Gifford, Theodore E. Hook, and T. Crofton Croker, (the Actors in the Revel.)
It is said to be the horn of the Highland Buffalo, an animal which has been extinct nearly 300 Years.

If we have err'ed, remember Mr Baylis,
That we are less in fault than your good Ale is.

While Thames doth flow or Wine is drank,
Þar-hæl to all at Priors Bank
