Letters Patent of Queen Elizabeth granting a general pardon to John Lennard of Chevening (grandfather of Henry, Lord Dacre); 15 Jan. 1559. Broken fragments of the Great Seal of Elizabeth. Such pardons were frequently obtained to secure immunity from penalties due if properties held of the Crown in capite were sold or purchased without licence.
