Scope and content
A roll containing the third reissue of Magna Carta, 11 Feb. 1225, with the Charter of the Forest; contemporary copy. The roll contains variant readings, e.g. in the Charter of the Forest an extra clause 'De boscis autem aliorum nullum detur chiugnagium' (i.e. 'chiminagium').

See W. Blackstone, The Great Charter and Charter of the Forest (1759), notes to pp. xlviii, li, who refers to the present roll. J. Gutch, Collectanea Curiosa, II (1781), 352-62, reprints extracts from Blackstone and submissions to SA by the Rev. Charles Lyttelton, 8 Jan. 1761, and Blackstone, 28 May 1762, relating to the roll. Blackstone suggested that that it was not an authentic enrolment but part of a roll containing a collection of statutes. Ker, MMBL (1969), 314.
