Scope and content
Pedigree of the family of Thorpe of Sussex and Kent, ending with John Thorpe, junior (b. 1715). Together with pedigrees of the families of Combridge and Luck, an account of the descent and arms of John Thorpe, MD (1682-1750), who settled in Rochester, 1715; an account (imperfect) of the latter's life with a list of printed works (1705-50) mostly relating to Thorpe or to Rochester; and a transcript (from the collections of James Coats, arms painter, 'Ex Collectaneis Dni Coates', 1712) of a grant of arms and crest by Sir Edward Bysshe, 1663, to Robert Holden of Hookridge in Cranbrook, Kent.
