Scope and content
Memoranda of the Armorial bearings of the Knights of the Garter from their Stall-plates and other authorities' 'Thos. Willement. 1840'(p. 31). A list of Knights of the Garter to 1853, with tracings and drawings, some coloured, by Thomas Willement, and cuttings of published reproductions; 1840-c. 1856. The sources quoted include a collection of coloured drawings of stall plates in St George's chapel lent to Willement by the bookseller, Pickering, of Piccadilly (note by Willement, April 1851, p. v verso). Coloured drawing by Willement of the garter of the Prince Regent, p. vii. At pp. 1-30, preceding Willement's collection, a printed chronological list of knights and officers of the order, 1347-1839, as in Sir N. H. Nicholas, History of the Orders of Knighthood, II (1842), li-lxxxvii. Arms of Sultan Abdul Medjid Khan (elected 1856) added, pp. 784-5. Index, pp. 787-97.
