Album of Matthäus Schmoll (1610-75); compiled 1624-33, with later annotations by the owner. Latin, Greek, German, Hebrew, etc. Matthäus Schmoll was born in Steyr, Austria, where his father was a Lutheran priest. The family moved to Regensburg, to escape persecution under the Counter Reformation, and Matthäus Schmoll was ordained there in 1637. Entries mostly by theologians or lawyers, including a number of religious exiles from Austria, etc. Coloured drawings include allegories of the virtues, and coats of arms.
