Memoranda relating to the office and duties of heralds; late 16th-early 17th century. Partly compiled by Ralph Brooke, York Herald 1593-1625, who recorded on the last page (fol. 95) the birth of his three children. Contents relate mainly to dignities, creations (e.g. the creation of Ann Boleyn as Marchioness of Pembroke, 1 Sept. 1532, fol. 42), precedence, funerals and fees. Coloured drawings (showing differences in ermine collars) of a Duke, Marquess, Earl and 'Comes antiquus', fols. 36-7v. Contents lists, fols. 2,94.
