A miscellaneous collection, in several hands, of foreign arms, with many shields, mostly coloured, apparently compiled in Flanders, and relating mainly to the arms of the Low Countries, Germany and France. Begins with the arms of Rome, p. 1, and papal arms, pp.2-5, and includes many Flemish and French arms, a section of kings, pp.29-38, and fictitious arms, including the nine Amazons (i.e. the nine heroines, derived from Thomas of Saluzzo's Chevalier errant; see M.Keen, Chivalry (1984), pl.29, from Paris, Bib.Nat., MS fr. 12559, fol. 125v), pp. 143-4. Excerpts from the records, late 15th century, of the Order of the Golden Fleece entered on pp.86-7. Includes, p. 152, the arms of Ferdinand King of the Romans (elected 1531). Dates, 1434-1516 (not in order), entered at the head of pp.77-111. Obits entered to 1542 (p.66). Index, 16th century, at the end (separate foliation, fols. 1-35).
