'Schewrl Buch' or history of the Scheurl family of Bavaria, with coloured arms and a few portraits throughout. The main text is preceded by:- 'Wolmainende anmanung fur das Erbar Schewrl geschlecht', an admonition with ten lines of religious verse, fol. iv; two letters of Christoph Scheurl, Stattrichter (1535-92; son of Dr Christoph Scheurl) to his cousins, signed and dated 15 Sept. 1591 (fol. 1) and 1 May 1563 (fol. 2r,v), the former relating to his revision of his father's genealogical history of the family which he hoped his cousins would continue, the latter presenting a copy of his late father's history; 'Christenliche Vorred', a religious preface relating to the Ten Commandments, etc., fols. 4-12. Main text originally compiled by Dr Christoph Scheurl, 15 March 1541, consisting of historical and genealogical notes starting with Conrad Scheurl (14th century), fols. 13-95. Followed by copies of briefs of Charles V, 18 March 1541, fols. 97-9v, and Ferdinand, King of the Romans, 6 Apr. 1540, fols. 101-3, confirming the arms of the Scheurl family; and a religious epilogue in a different hand, fols. 104-6. Later MS additions throughout to c. 1652. Pedigree from Conrad Scheurl, 1385, to Christoph Wilhelm III (1679-1749), fols. 78a, b.
