Scope and content
Collections of arms with crests, in trick (a few roughly coloured), of English families; compiled temp. Chas.I to c. 1645 (cf. fol. 87v). Contains many arms granted by Robert Cooke, Clarenceux 1567-92, with grants by Camden and others; arms granted to City captains and colonels, 1642-5 (fols. 80-7v), and arms of English sees (fols. 88-9v). Later additions (fols. 90-102), in several hands, include collections relating to the families of Young (fols. 96v-7) and Baker (fols. 99v-100). The earlier part of the collection is mostly a copy of College of Arms MS B.E.D.N., entitled Cooke's grants. Indexes, 17th century, fols. v-vii verso; by Mill Stephenson, FSA, fols. viii-xiii verso.
