Scope and content
Scrapbook containing mainly Irish arms probably compiled by an Irish herald; 18th century, with some earlier material. A very miscellaneous collection including cuttings from published engravings; grants of arms by William Hawkins, Ulster 1698 (1701, 1713, fols. 46,91v), William Hawkins, Ulster 1765 (1769, fol. 77v), Richard Carney, Athlone (1679, fol. 92) and Ulster (1684, fol. 78); grant by John Campbell-Hooke, Lyon King of Arms (Edinburgh, 12 Feb. 1773, fols. 93v-4v); a few cuttings of foreign arms (eg. engraved arms of Salomon Wagenaer of Leiden, 1665, fol. 85v); pulls from plate (eg. fol. 81); pedigrees of John Dromgold, gentleman of the chamber of the Count of Clermont, 1753 (fol. 118v) and Cornelius Nicholas O'Murphy, 1764 (fols. 120v-1).
