Grant of arms with a jewel to Joseph Carl Frey of Donaueschingen, formerly field and staff surgeon in the Mitrowitzer Herrschaft (?Mitrovitsa, on the Sava, Vojvodina, N. W. Serbia) by Johann Baptist Marquart Obermiller, Pfalz und Hofgraf zu Latein (comes palatinus), advocate of the Bavarian High Court in Munich; Munich, 16 May 1748. German. Lacks seal, portion of cord remains. The arms and jewel granted are painted in the centre of fol. 2v, the jewel shown suspended from the helm. Elaborate penwork decoration, fol. 1, including a tree, cherubs, deer, birds, the sun, a shield bearing the arms granted, etc.; penwork heading to fol. 1v including the eagles of Austria (with sceptre) and Germany (with sword) and the Imperial crown; penwork decoration at the end, fol. 4.
