Scope and content
Transcripts of two collections of arms; c. 1600, c. 1700. French. As follows:-

(1) A collection, probably incomplete at the beginning, of arms in colour, with blazons, mostly of France and the Low Countries, mainly arranged under provinces; c. 1600. Made in Flanders from an earlier MS of c. 1500 (cf. BL Add.MS 26700). Also includes German, Spanish and English arms (fols. 5-8), etc. Begins with the arms of Madame de Ghistelles with her quarters. Also contains arms of:- Kings, fols. 68v-9; Saracen kings, fols. 69v-70; King Gallehot and the thirty kings conquered by him, fols. 70v-1; Charlemagne and his pairs, fols. 71r,v; Richard of England (Richard I) and his companions, ending with Arthurian names, fols. 71v-2; Alexander and some of his pairs, fols. 72v; nine worthies, omitting David but including Bertrand du Guesclin, fol. 73; list of cities and fortresses held by Anthony, Duke of Brabant, fol. 73r,v; copy of a proclamation of a 'pardon d'armes' for jousting, fol. 73v; arms of territories of Charles de Valois, last Duke of Burgundy (Charles the Bold, d. 1477), fols. 75-7;-

(2) A later collection, mostly of French arms; c. 1700. fols. 80-119.
