The engravings were probably mounted for Pierre Aveline whose arms and anagram, beg. 'Peine et Laurier', are on fol. ii (?Pierre Aveline, engraver and publisher, of Paris, 1654-1722). On the front pastedown, 'Ce livre est a moy Nurjot(?)'.

Full page engraved portraits of Henry III, fol. 3, the Duc de Nevers (the first knight created), fol. 4. Engraved arms of the order (with variations) before each reign, fols. 2,21, 33,51. Index of names, fols. 91-2v. J. Guigard, Bibliothèque héraldique de la France (1861), no.741, describes the engraved series relating to the first to forty-sixth chapter, published in 1711; no.742 is the series relating to the forty-eighth to ninety-second chapter, published in 1759.
