Genealogical tables of the sixteen quarters of the heads of the first and principal families of Lorraine, compiled by Matthieu Husson, L'Escossoys; between 1663-73. The tables are preceded by two leaves with engraved borders of cherubs, flowers, foliage and birds, by A(lexandre) Boudan, fols.iii,iv, the second leaf inscribed with a letter of presentation from Husson to Jean Paul de Choisy (conseiller d’état, 1657, intendant in Metz, 1663-73; d.1697). The arms of his cousin, Thomas de Choisy, Marquis de Moigneville, 1692, are entered in the top border of fol.iv (see also note at the foot of the page). The tables consist of 94 sheets, bound as double spreads, with engraved outlines of shields, cartouches, etc., supported by cherubs, and decorated with foliage and flowers; each sheet is inscribed 'Dedit Matthaus Husson Virdunen’. The descents are entered in manuscript, and printed shields of the parents of the head of each family are pasted in, but the arms of the sixteen quarters are not given. A similar collection, Paris, Bibl. de L'Arsénal, MS 5152, contains 112 sheets (see J.Guigard, Bibliothèque héraldique de la France (1861), no.2686).
