Scope and content
Commonplace books of Nathaniel Ellison, DD (c. 1657-1721; see J. Foster, Al. Oxon. 1500-1714, II (1891), 459), prebendary of Lichfield and canon of Durham, with later additions, particularly in Vol. V. The contents consist chiefly of notes on church history and theology, arranged under subject headings, mostly derived from printed sources, including references to political events such as the execution of Charles I, the deposing of kings and princes, and many other topics.
