Scope and content
Wardrobe accounts of receipts and disbursements of Robert de Whitbergh, cofferer of Queen Philippa (Philippa of Hainault, Queen of Edward III), 30 Sept. 1351-29 Sept. 1352. Includes:- Receipts from her dowry lands and tenements and from lands, etc., in the county of Richmond assigned for the support of her children, fol. 2; alms including offerings at masses for special occasions, dates and places given (including chapels royal at Windsor and Eltham), fols. 3-4; donations for gifts and services, including a minstrel, Henry Ffitheler, for playing before the image of the BVM 'in volta' in Canterbury Cathedral, fols. 4v-5; expenses of messengers, fol. 6r, v; necessary expenses, including those of Robert de Whitbergh, fols. 7-8; fees, fol. 9; sum totals, fol. 9v. Many extracts are given in the communication by John Topham, 9 June 1785 (Minute Book XX, pp. 325-37).
