Coats of arms from churches, houses and plate, in the diocese of Rochester, with tricks, partly in the hand of John Thorpe, senior; 1721-43, with additions by John Thorpe, junior, 1757 (fols. 11,14). Includes two items formerly in MSS/0199 (Ellis, art.5; see contents list, fol. i). Miscellaneous items include:- 'Reasons for preserving Genealogies', by John Thorpe, senior, who gives eighteen reasons, fol. 60; copy by Thorpe of the grant of arms to Mawdesley Best, 1742, with itemised bill, and copy of Thorpe's letter to Thomas Best regarding the arms, 3 Feb.1742/3, fols. 62-3v. Signature of Sir Hans Sloane to a standard letter inviting contributions (a similar document is in MSS/0200/ter), fol. 49v.
