“The Armes of All the Gentlemen in Kent” (title page, fol.1). Coloured shields of arms of nobility and gentry of Kent; c. 1597-1600. Mostly three rows of shields per page. Title page with the royal arms (France modern, with England), in colour, and, beneath the title, the arms of Henry, Lord Grey of Ruthin 'now Earle of Kent' (succeeded, 1573), fol.1; arms of the sees and cities of Canterbury and Rochester, and of the Cinque Ports, fol.1v; arms of John Whitgift, Archbp of Canterbury (1583-1604), Sir John Puckering, Lord Keeper (1592-6), John Young, Bp of Rochester (1578-1605), peers including Sir Henry Brooke, Lord Cobham (1597-1603), and knights, beginning Sir Warham Saint-Leger (1597), fols. 2-4; alphabet of arms of gentry, Dr Aubrey-Yardley, including Thorpe (fol.20), fols. 4v-23, followed on fol.23 by a larger shield of arms of Fowle (cf. fol.27); alphabet of arms, Alman- Welsh, fols. 24v-32.
