Scope and content
Three manuscripts containing accounts of the coronations of Edward VI and Mary I. As follows:-
(1) 'A short Abstract of the manner and forme of Coronation of king Edward the sixt..'. Brief account of events leading up to the Coronation and ceremonies on the day (20 Feb. 1546/7). Reference at the end, fol. 6v, to the Queen 'that nowe is'. fols. 1-6v;-
(2) A fuller account (old foliation 314-53) of the Coronation of Edward VI including details of pageants and other entertainments performed on 19 February, with words of songs, etc. (fols. 16v-24v), and of the creation of knights, jousts, etc. Contains material not published in J. G. Nichols, Literary remains of King Edward the Sixth, I, App. 6 (Roxburghe Club 75, 1857). See also S.
