Scope and content
Notes on the kings of Portugal from Alphonso Henriques (d. 1185) to the accession of Sebastian (b. 1554, reigned 1557-78). Consists of brief notes of succession, main events in reigns, marriages, etc.; no events are entered for the reign of Sebastian (who died on a Crusade against the Moors, 1578). Table of kings, fol. 12, giving dates and places of birth and death (not entered for Sebastian). Marginal annotations of pedigrees, etc., in the hand of William, Lord Burghley (who entered similar annotations in State Papers and Lansdowne MSS; inf. Professor Steven W. May).
