Scope and content
Transcript of 'Archaismus Graphicus' by Henry Spelman (1564-1641), a compendium, made for his sons in 1606 (cf. MSS/0065, fol.19), of abbreviations, contractions, and other scribal practices found in early manuscripts.

Transcript made by Sir Roger Twysden (1597-1672). This version differs slightly from Plot’s (MSS/0066) in the wording of the main text, in the prefatory matter, and in added annotations. Twysden borrowed the original MS (now Bodl.Lib., MS Rawl.B.462) from Spelman (MSS/0065, fol.19).

Archival history
