An account of the ecclesiastical antiquities of Elgin and other places in Moray by the Rev. Lachlan Shaw, FSA (d. 1777), minister of Elgin, written at the age of ninety (see covering letter, 4 March 1773, from Thomas Pennant to the Hon. Daines Barrington, VPSA, fol. 5). Consists mainly of notes on early bishops of Moray, an account of the ancient cathedral of Elgin, the abbey of Kinloss, and priories. Published by the Rev. L. Shaw in The History of the Province of Moray (Edinburgh, 1775). The account was accompanied (see fol. 5v) by two drawings of Elgin, one (a general view) after Sandby, the other (of the chapter house) after Bernard Gilpin. fols. 6-21.
