Scope and content
Descriptive notes and bibliographic extracts, printed and MS, relating to a number of tracts, mainly Continental, on heraldry and heraldic usage.

These notes bear no overall explanation by London. The first of the works listed was 'Ung petit traictié de Noblesse' by Diego de Valera, which led to the file being entered as 'Traicte de Noblesse de Valera' in the typescript list of London's bequest shelved at the Society of Antiquaries (LON/08/01, p 5), and by Wiilletts as 'Diego de Valera: Ung petit traictié de Noblesse' (Catalogue of the Manuscripts in the Society of Antiquaries of London (2000), MS 926/1, p 432), in both cases giving a misleading impression of a transcript of a single work. An unexplained note on the cover of the folder ‘Description Soc. Ant. (Dr Joan Evans)’ adds to the confusion.
