Closely similar to, but not identical with, the 'sword guard of gilt copper' reproduced and described in Gowland's papers 'The Dolmens and Burial Mounds in Japan', Archaeologia 55 (1897), fig 26 p 47; and 'The Dolmens of Japan and their Builders', Transactions and Proceedings of the Japan Society IV (1899), fig 11, p 25.
