Scope and content
This appears to be a work in progress, illustrating Gowland's continuing interest in Stonehenge, but not completed when he died in 1922. The earliest cuttings from various newspapers were carefully mounted on paper in chronological order, January 1901 - September 1902, and pinned together at the top of the mounts. Thereafter, a small group of partly-completed pages and offcuts from articles recount a paper given by Gowland at Chippenham Town Hall on 15 July 1902. Subsequent cuttings, grouped by date, include some from 1904-1905 on the legal proceedings against Sir Edmund Antrobus concerning the erection of a fence around Stonehenge, and others from 1915 and 1920-1921.
