Scope and content
Loose notes on sheets of varying sizes, not all in Gowland's hand: some relate to Stonehenge, others to metals. The content indicates that they were probably assembled by Gowland ahead of the renewed excavations first proposed in 1918, but not undertaken until 1921. 9 sheets.
One sheet is a drawing headed 'No. 7 Stonehenge S.W. Base of Stone'.
This stone was righted in January 1920: see Martyn Barber, Restoring Stonehenge 1881-1939 (Stonehenge World Heritage Site Landscape Project: English Heritage Research Report Series 6-2014), p 94.
One sheet of notes is on the back of part of a blueprint of 'Santa Fiorentina Smelting Works', dating from 1907. For other fragments of a blueprint, used for notes: GOW/01/09/02, nos. 2 and 3.
