Quitclaim by William Blaxton of Newcastle upon Tyne, merchant, to George Birde of the same town, merchant, of his rights in a great tenement with the houses and buildings belonging to it in a street called 'le Closse' (The Close), Newcastle, which he lately conveyed to the said George by feoffment. The tenement, called the 'Erlys In[n]' (Earl's Inn), acquired from Henry Percy, Count of Northumberland, is situated between a tenement of the Hospital of St Katherine the Virgin on the Mountain of the Sands in which William Birde lately lived on the west, and a lane called Bower Chare on the east, stretching from the King's highway on the north to the 'le groundebe aque' of the Tyne on the south. Dated at Newcastle. Sealed with the seal of Blaxton and the official seal of John Cok, Mayor of Newcastle. 2 seals (Mayoral seal is a fragment) on 2 seal tags.
