Notes provided on 38 castles, which are separated into their respective Rapes within Sussex. These are the Rapes of Hastings, Bramber, Chichester, Pevensey, Lewes and Arundel. Within these are the castles of Bodiam and Herstmonceux, Bramber, Edburton and Knappe, Chichester and Midhurst, Hartfield and Pevensey, Lewes and Clay Hill Motte, Amberley and Arundel.

Hastings castle garners a sizable description including photos and a booklet on its history, as do Amberely and Arundel castles which include multiple photos and a ground plan of the castle.
