Notes provided on 50 castles. These include: Almeley, Aston, Boresford, Clifford, Croft, Eardisley, Eywas Harold, Hereford, Goodrich, Huntingdon, Pembridge, Shobdon, Walterstone, Wigmore.
Wall has provided detailed histories of the castles, from significant events which impacted them to when they were built and in some cases who resided within them. He also analyses the composition and structure of the buildings. Many of the castles have sketches of ground plans provided.
Of note are the extensive writings and drawings depicting Eywas Harold castle and Goodrich, a family tree of occupants of Eywas castle and sketches of Goodrich’s numerous rounded towers are provided. Hereford castle is also apportioned greater importance amongst Wall's descriptions.
