Notes provided on 19 castles: Basing, Bishops Waltham, Calshot, Carisbrooke, Christchurch, Highclose, Hurst, Merdon, Netley, Odiham, Portchester, Rowlands Castle, Southampton, Southsea, Warblington, Winchester, Wolvesey, Wherwell, Yarmouth.
Wall has provided detailed histories of the castles from when they were built to significant events surrounding them, whilst also analysing the composition and structure of the buildings.
Of note are the extensive notes on Odiham, Portchester and Winchester castles. The latter is accompanied by numerous sketches and photos of some of the architecture, including the famous Round table found within the Guildhall.
