Half vellum binding, with marbled boards. Contents bound between blank interleaves.
Scope and content
Consists of forty-two items, some in the hand of Sir Edward Walker, relating mainly to heraldic matters, including papers conc. the determination of Garter's rights, 1673 (fols. 7-13, etc.), Privy Council settlement of Garter's status, 1663 (fol. 34), grants of arms, supporters and augmentations. At fols. 1-2 an alphabet of arms, Alvarde-Mundy (of London, Mayor), with annotation 'Alphabett of Armes L. 2' (i.e. College of Arms MS L. 2); endorsed 'collected 1663'. Original letter (fol. 29) from Col. John Butler of Exeter to Richard Hornbrook of London, 1663, conc. his grant, with papers relating to his services and descent, fols. 24-6, 29-33. Earlier material includes an autograph note (fol. 42v) by Thomas, Earl of Arundel, 4 July 1637, relating to the augmentation of arms of Michael Pompe, Ambassador, of Belgium, fols. 41-2v. With notes on the contents by Charles Trice Martin, FSA (eight leaves).
