Papers of Sir Edward Walker (1612-77), Garter 1645-77, Clerk of the Council to Charles II in exile, Secretary at War, 1656.
Drafts and papers relating almost entirely to heraldic matters, bound in random order. Main topics are arrangements for funerals of nobility and other notable people, including that of Sir William Le Neve, August 1661 (fols. 58,144); attempts to control activities of the arms painters (see particularly fols. 14, 91, 119), and to exact fees on seals for Regimental commissions (fols. 106, 139); fees and dividends. Designs for the arms and banners of the Earl of Ossory, fols. 3,4. Note relating to the redemption of a pawned gold chain of the Marquess of Ormond, 25 Apr. 1660, fol. 80.
