Handwritten notes on the history of the 16 trumpets which form part of the State Regalia of Great Britain. There is a history of the office of Sargant Trumpeter and associated mace, and a series of correspondence, mostly from Eric Halfpenny relating to the identification of specific trumpets or trumpeteers. There are also receipts for the removal of 6 silver trumpets from the Royal Armouries at the Tower of London for examination by Eric Halfpenny and some printed articles written by Halfpenny, and one by Maurice Bryne, for the Galpin Society on the trumpets. Additionally, there is some correspondence between Sitwell and the Lord Chamberlain identifying the missing 16th trumpet and arranging for it to be returned to the Tower.
