Scope and content
1. 3 monochrome photographic prints of shields numbered 1, 2 and 3 on back, with indication of size for printing.
2. Envelope containing 4 colour slides, arranged for printing. [From Cambridge, Corpus Christi College, MS 16: for frontispiece of Aspilogia II, Rolls of Arms Henry III (1967)].
3. 4 monochrome photographic prints from [British Library] MS Cotton Nero D.I.
- 2 prints showing f 171 and [171v], which are transcribed in Aspilogia II, pp 45-52 (nos 46-78) and pp 36-44 (nos 1-45), as from f 170 and 170b. [TD Tremlett’s introduction, Aspilogia II, p[3], explains that this leaf was rebound back-to-front.]
- 2 copies of print showing f 200, one endorsed ‘Plate II’ and ‘Dupl’; this image was used for Plate II of Aspilogia II [where it is shown as f 198 (BM 200).]
4. Photographic envelope containing 9 negatives and 9 monochrome prints (various sizes). The 5 half-plate prints are stamped on the back as taken by John R Freeman and Co, Varley House, 74 Newman St, London W1, and numbered in MS from 137068 to 137072.
[Several details from these prints were used to compose Plate III of Aspilogia II, where they are identifiable as from Glover’s Roll, in former Wrest Park MS 16, which at the time of publication was in the possession of Sir Anthony Wagner.]
5. Photographic envelope containing 11 half-plate monochrome prints, with MS note from Courtauld Institute concerning photographs of the Caerlaverock Poem taken for TD Tremlett, 18 June 1964.
6. 26 negative photostats, enclosed in a brown paper collar marked by HS London ‘Bruges Book Stowe 594’ and ‘P.4056 56, 16 x 11 stats’.
7. Folded sheet of paper, marked ‘2nd copy’, enclosing:
- cut-down monochrome photographic print endorsed in pencil ‘Povey’s Tract / Coll. Arms MS. B.19 fol 25 / Arms of Henry VI & Q Margaret’. Possibly HS London’s hand.
- monochrome photographic print of MS drawings of shield, endorsed ‘Herald’s Tract’.
- 18 monochrome photographic prints, unidentified. These may not all be from the same source.
8. 2 monochrome photographic prints, one of them duplicating no.7b above, folded within two sheets of paper marked respectively ‘File London’ and ‘3rd copies’.
9. 9 negative photostats from [BL] MS Add. 46354, ff 175, 196, 199, ?215, ?240, 347, 359, 365, 383. On f 196, a marginal annotation by HS London: ‘Names not in Wrythe’s usual hand but it occurs in other Wrythe MSS. Is it an early and careful Wrythe?’.
