Scope and content
An International Geographical Union (IGU) Commission (no.7) was appointed at the International Geographical Congress held at Cambridge, UK, in July 1928, to research and publish a map of the Roman Empire following a proposal by O.S.G. Crawford, Archaeological Officer to the Ordnance Survey. It first met in Florence in 1929. O.G.S. Crawford served as Secretary of IGU Commission no.7.
