The following Fellows were proposed for election: Joseph Banks, Dr Blanshard, Viscount Nuneham, George Perry, Dr Petit.
The Lord Bishop of Carlisle informed the Society that he had the honour of presenting to the King a set of Monumenta Vetusta and a book of coins.
Andrew Ducarel read a letter from the Rev Brian Fausett (Heppington 1 January 1766) on a cemetery of St Augustine’s Monastery, Canterbury, and the taking down of St Ethelbert’s Tower for a house for Sir Edward Hales [detailed account of coffins found].
Charles Lyttelton on a manuscript ‘Directions how to make such coloured and gilded letters as are to be seen frequently in old Manuscripts’ [this is the Treatise on illumination now part of the Society’s collection as MSS/0006].
