Scope and content
Correspondence between the Society and Shrewsbury School Library relating to the movement of some manuscripts to them for safe keeping, based on government guidelines relating to 'safe areas'. Confirmation that 682 books in 8 boxes, including broadsides and manuscripts, were transported there for storage and written confirmation that the school holds no responsibility for the conditions of the books while under their care. Discussion over exhibition potential of some of the illuminated manuscripts while held at Shrewsbury, and an offer made of a reprint of the Jousting Check from the Field of Cloth of Gold as a show of gratitude. Arrangements for the return of the books in October 1945, with confirmation of their receipt in London on 11 October 1945. Also includes printed catalogues of items sent to Shrewsbury.
