Scope and content
Correspondence between the Society and the National Library of Wales (NLW) relating to the storage, and post war return, of objects belonging to the Society. NLW held 8 cases of books and manuscripts on behalf of the Society, including two cases of early minute books, 31 manuscripts (including the Lindsey psalter and the Winchester Domesday) and 3 books (including the Kelmscott Chaucer), which were received on 3 August 1939. There is a list dated 12/12/40 of objects currently being held by third parties. Also, a series of correspondence relating to 9 volumes of heraldic transcripts (box 31) which were removed from the NLW early and sent to Preston for research in 1941. Additionally, a letter of confirmation that 7 boxes were returned to the Society on 30 August 1945 and a letter trail discussing the whereabouts of box 31.
