Mainly relating to the content and printing of the Society’s Journal and its papers and other publications such as Archaeologia and volumes relating to the annual meetings of the Archaeological Institute at Winchester (1845) and York (1846), in particular their costs and expenses and methods and difficulties of sale and recovery of costs. Mention of the ‘high church’ men of Oxford and Cambridge and desire by the Oxford Society to publish an Archaeological magazine. Many letters reflect the disagreement between the gentlemen of the Committee and the ‘men of trade’ which had been an element in the split between the Archaeological Institute and the British Archaeological Association.
