In a letter dated 26 March 1898 Bensley attempts to raise funds to repair the cloister at Norwich Cathedral. He advises that £3,000 is needed to repair a bulge on the North side of the cloister as well as a column which is damaged.

There is a follow up letter discussing the best person to engage with prior to commencing building works to ensure that all works are carried out sympathetically and with all due archaeological care, and another discussing the funding and rumoured additions, including a heraldic lozenge bearing the arms of one of the donors.
