Lord Stowell presents a copy of a petition, in Latin, presented at the Middle Temple, intended to ensure Sir John Davies be reinstated to the degree of barrister. He had been removed 4 years prior as he entered the dining hall of the Inns with two armed men and struck Richard Martin with a cudgel in response to a perceived insult Martin had directed at him.
