Letter from Joseph Hawker exhibiting two carved ancient ivory sculptures, believed to have decorated a casket at one point. He states they were purchased 50 years earlier in Chester. The larger shows a scene of 8 segments involving a young woman, a young man, a hooded figure and a woman wearing a coronet and the outfits are dated as early 14th Century. The smaller features two panels; one depicting the coronation of the Virgin Mary and second the murder of Thomas a Beckett.
