A bell rubbing with note stating that the gift of Rev Basil R Tucker from the A Turner Collection with acknowledgement of receipt 21/3/52. On reverse of rubbing various notes dated 1880, 1881 and 1894 including note that “H.. initial + wrongly given by Ellacombe’.
H T Ellacombe (1790-1885) was well known for books on Church bells and change ringing. ‘A Turner Collection’ likely to be reference to collection of Rev Thomas Archer Turner (president of the Lancashire Association of Change Ringers) which forms part of the Collection of H B Walters (https://collections.sal.org.uk/wah). Possibly given to the Society by Rev Basil Roberts Tucker in 1952?
