Fifteen drawings (28 scenes) from the Life of St James the Great. c. 1180-1200. Copied 1955. Scale 1/3.
(1) Scene 1: Christ, with other figures, giving the key to St James.
(2) Scene 2: Philetus disputing with Hermogenes; Scene 3: Philetus cast into prison & chained to recess between two walls.
(3) Scene 4: The chief Pharisee consults Hermogenes the Sorcerer about the danger of St James and his mission; Scene 5: Devils sent by Hermogenes to take St James (who is at Prayer before an altar, protecting Philetus and his son) are overcome by him; Scene 6: The vanquished devils sent by St James to bring their master, Hermogenes, to him.
(4) Scene 6 [sic]: Hermogenes seized by devils at command of St James; Scene 7: Philetus told by St James to release Hermogenes; Scene 8: Philetus unbinds Hermogenes's hands.
(5) Scene 9: St James, disputing with Hermogenes, converts him and Hermogenes asks for some article of the Saint's to protect him; Scene 10: Philetus's son is sent to tell his father to fetch St James's staff; Scene 11: Philetus gives St James's staff to Hermogenes.
(6) Scene 12: Hermogenes brings his magic books to St James; Scene 13: ? Hermogenes's Zaberna in which he kept his magic books.
(7) Scene 14: ? Hermogenes disputing with one of his former disciples or ? dismissing his familiar spirit; Scene 15: Hermogenes casting his evil books into the sea from a boat containing himself, St James and Philetus; Scene 16: An unidentified scene involving a former disciple or possibly Hermogenes�s familiar spirit.
(8) Scene 17: Idols and evil-doers or familiars, fall down at the presence of St James; Scene 18: Figure of Christ blessing, probably connected with scene in next window splay.
(9) Scene 19: St James baptising or confirming two figures, possibly Hermogenes and disciples?; Scene 20: Unidentified subject, with saintly figure with halo.
(10) Scene 21: St James preaching.
(11) Scene 22: The scourging of St James.
(12) Scene 22: The scourging of St James; Scene 23: St James heals the paralytic.
(13) Scene 24: Conversion of Josias and the paralytic; Scene 25: Josias is assaulted.
(14) Scene 25: Josias is assaulted in the presence of the High Priest.
(15) Scene 26: Josias is baptised by St James; Scene 27: they embrace; Scene 28: are executed, and their souls are carried to heaven.

Five periods of painting:
a) Border at base and fragment of painting above, belonging to the original scheme, c. 1200 or earlier.
b) Stencilled brocade pattern in red and part of a border, 15th century.
c) Fragment of frame and text in black letter characters, 16th century.
d) Fragment of border round the later window, c. 1602 (part of a complete scheme found elsewhere in the church.
e) Text in rayed, heart-shaped frame, also one of an extensive series in the church, probably c 1723. Copied 1955.
