Scope and content
Letter from CT Ramage to his mother from Rome on 2 August 1828, regarding his imminent departure for Florence. He was delayed a few days longer in Rome owing to a 300 mile excursion he took in the area (Rome - Palestrina - Tivoli - Licenza - Corese - Rieti - Terni - Amelia - Giove - Civita Castellana - Rome), travelling for a time around Rieti with Sir W Gell. As to malaria or 'bad air' in Rome, Ramage says "it is all humbug as I never saw a finer or more healthy race of people in the world". Refers to a Dr Nott (former tutor to Princess Charlotte and Dean of Winchester) being included to join him in a tour he means to take of some ancient cities in Tuscany.
